A Little Bit of Scotland in Lancashire

The Balcarres Arms positively sparkling in this morning's glorious sunshine - didn't last long so glad I got this on the way in to work. The Earl of Balcarres made his home at Haigh Hall in Lancashire in the 19th century, but the family retreated to their homelands in Fife in the mid 20th century selling off Haigh Hall to the local council to pay for death duties.

I blipped another pub named after the Earl of Balcarres which at the time was boarded up, I'm glad to say that it has now reopened.

Off to the Lakes shortly - have a wonderful weekend whatever you're up to : )
