Common Enchantments

One of many

We hiked the Twenty Mile Creek trail today in Great Smoky Mountain National Park. This is one of the six bridges that are made from half logs that we had to cross. One of them was a little high up over the roaring creek and made for some quivering knees!

We hiked 7 miles but did not complete the loop because we saw a rattlesnake along the trail. Thankfully before we got within striking distance! We threw rocks and broken limbs to try to get it to move off but it was not going anywhere. We think it might have had young. Dee was in front and manage to get a photo before we turned around to go back the way we came.

We hope to rehike this trail in the cold weather when the leaves turn and maybe the snakes will be somewhere else.

The forest was so amazingly GREEN.
