Shaggy Bee Beetle

Shaggy Bee Beetle would be the translated German name of this critter.
Trichodes alvearius is (probably) its official name.
They were new critters for me and they were very impressive in flight. But I was way too slow for a in flight capture. To be honest I was glad that this one had a little nibble on the spiraea and sat there for two seconds ;-)

I'm not sure if I'm happy that they arrived in our garden:
"The newly hatched larvae are very mobile and actively seek out the nests of wild bees (especially mason bees) and digger wasps, where they feed on the host's eggs, larvae and pupae. Their mandibles are strong enough to bite through the mason bees' mortar." (*Wikipedia)
