Gentle morning

I was treated to a fly past by the male kingfisher as I returned to the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust venue. No chance for a photo but even a brief glimpse raises the spirits.

This year is the first time for about five years that the kingfisher has nested on the riverbank. Flooding and the predatory mink had meant that the babies were raised much further along the river. I saw the male fishing briefly (branches obscured the focus.)

A lovely morning, talking to locals who have watched the bird life (and used fantastic photographic gear) for decades.

Lovely scenery. Gorgeous shades of green and pretty wildflowers.

But the blip had to be this pair of mallard cuties….
