Mostly Six Five Oh

By nhc

Yes, I am on the roof again.  We've had no hot water since yesterday afternoon.  It's been a long day...

The long and the short of it is, the pool heater that gave up last year (original to the age of the building) was finally being replaced with a new system.  It's taken a year of research, HOA disagreements, Covid delays, supply chain rethinks...  I'll spare you.  Anyway, the contractors have been working on stuff for a couple weeks on and off.  Inspection happened yesterday.  Then no hot water to the whole building.  Ha!

The extremely brief cold shower at the start of the day wasn't fun - we're so spoiled and we don't realize until these things are gone.

The boilers are on the roof, thus the picture.  They are original to the mid-century/atomic building and unlike the pool heater, are still functioning.  Mostly.  The glitch, which took two teams of guys to figure out, was the reset button.  The spring had gone and was stuck in place so it wasn't reigniting the boiler.  Hoo boy.  We got there eventually and a warm shower will be mine this evening.

Oh and I will soon be able to have a swim (PT permitting), that'll be bliss too.

Naboo helping me look at recipes in the extra.  One has to do easily interruptible non-thinky stuff on days like this, or at least I have to.  The Ina Garten spring risotto looks good.
