Eats of Eden

“They're a dark people with a gift for suffering way past their deserving. It's said that without whiskey to soak and soften the world, they'd kill themselves.” - John Steinbeck

Breakfast at a cafe on Grays Inn Road. Train to Edinburgh. Walk from Waverley to Orchardhead Road in the baking afternoon sun. Meet Dave at the Pear Tree - and get Craig (and Alma) as a bonus walkin.

At the Barony I hook up with the current incarnation of the IF old guard. We eat across the road at Eden - excellent aubergine dishes and organic lamb tagine, followed by baklava and decaf. I’m drinking Punk IPA 0%, while the test quad byob wine - one of which is a3rd growth claret from Malc’s cellar.

Rhia arrived to pick Malc up from the Barony. I walk to Princes street to catch a bus back to Liberton. Then the drive home… to a snoring Owen on the sofa.
