Cowbird

This plain looking bird is a female Brown-headed Cowbird (Molothrus ater). She landed on my sister’s driveway, and then watched the other birds at the feeders for quite awhile before deciding to join them. These birds are called brood parasites because the female cowbird does not build her own nest. She lays her eggs in the nests of other bird species, who then raise the baby cowbirds for her.
