Anthocharis cardamines

Mrs Catspaw and I were delighted to discover a female Orange Tip Butterfly (Anthocharis cardamines) at the far end of our back garden this morning.

It was very 'flighty' and so I was delighted to get such a sharp photo of it as it alighted momentarily to drink nectar from a scarce-open flower cluster of a Common Valerian plant (Valeriana officinalis).

It later settled for a slightly longer period on the flowers of Dame’s Rocket (Hesperis matronalis) nearby, where I took today's 'Extra'.
