Mail box

This VR (victorian) pillar box is at the top of the main street (The Square). So far as I can discover, it is a “Penfold” made between 1866 and 1879
About 300 were made, of whicht only 92 original Penfold boxes remain in Britain (there are about 115,000 post boxes of all shapes), and only 20 of them are mark 1 with the slot above the royal coat-of-arms. This one is in Royal Hillsborough. A little bit of history!
