Elizabeth Line

It had to be the Elizabeth Line today after waiting all these years :-)  MrHCB and I were among the 130,000 people who travelled on it before noon. We did the central section, which you can do without changing trains, Farringdon to Paddington, Paddington to Abbey Wood, Abbey Wood to Farringdon, in just about an hour for the whole journey. The section from Paddington to Liverpool Street was full of travellers and tourists with their luggage. The section on to Canary Wharf was full of business men. The section out to Abbey Wood just had train spotters and photographers ;-)

My images show the HUGE scale of everything. Clockwise from top left, the platforms and escalators at Paddington, the platform at Farringdon (it's hard to see from one end to the other), one of the two long escalators at Farringdon that take you from the platforms to street level, and the torrential thunderstorm that greeted us as we left the Barbican end of Farringdon station.
