One day at a time

R&R

For the first time for several weeks Mrs S and I got out to do some shopping and have a coffee and scone in the Rising Café in Hexham.
The Rising Café is run by the charity Batel which exists to get people who have been in difficult times in their lives back on their feet. Usually the difficulties revolve around drug or alcohol abuse, imprisonment and the like. The charity is based on Christian foundations and seeks to encourage people to explore a faith in God too. The people who work here are lovely, hard working and are recovering well. There is a shop in the town which sells restored furniture and that is generally staffed by men who have been in the same situation. It is very reasonably priced and the food and drinks are divine. We were pleased to be back.
