One of the oldest olive trees in the world

Day 5 /Walk 4. From west to east….
With trepidation we set out from Paramonas at the coast because the guide book says- today is the first day of real ascent. So we climbed up through olive grove terraces, and up, but the views over the coast were amazing indeed. We then descended through Ano ( high) Pavliana and Kato ( low) Pavliana to a heathland valley.
Lunch was in Stroggili , home to some of the oldest olive trees in the world. (The info said it has 3/10 oldest : between 750 and 1120 years, give or take 80 years)We also caught up with our new German friends who we’ve been playing tag with on the trail. We climbed up again ( the hardest part of the day in high temperatures of 31 with no shade ) to reach Dafnata where we had a final drink with them as they veered off to go on further.
We then started the descent into Coyevinas and then down to Benitses on the east coast where we are staying tonight. A swim before dinner was just what I needed!
