The Propeller

Did another "MapRun" this evening - orienteering around the Ravenswood estate on the south eastern side of Ipswich. No visible markers for the checkpoints, just GPS tracking with an app & a bleep each time I'd got to the correct spot.

The start & finish was alongside this massive stone sculpture, "The Propeller" by Harry Gray. It was made with a mixture of types of stone, with metal shapes depicting propellors & flowers set into the central section. The estate was built on what was originally Ipswich Airport & various sculptures were commissioned to show the link with the past & the transition to the present estate built around various green spaces.

There were fifteen of us at the event - a small group being checked back in can be seen in the photo. I'd intended to Blip one of the sculptures today but hadn't done my homework & hadn't appreciated quite how large & how difficult to photograph this one would be!
