when a man's an empty kettle

Fiona and Jess and I went for our monthly walk today. We had intended to do a strenuous hike up into the hills outside Langholm, but it was drizzly and the cloud level was low, so we decided instead to do a low level walk of around 9 miles from Canonbie. Of course we had barely set off when the weather improved and soon we were walking in warm sunshine with excellent visibility..but that other walk will wait.

We both liked this tin man at the end of a farm drive, not sure if he is a tattie bogle or what, but we had a dispute about who was lacking what in the Wizard of Oz and Fi was right - the tin man longed for a heart.

Jess has had a lovely day out, she had a cooling swim in the Willow Pool (see extra) on the River Liddel (the border between England and Scotland) got to chase a rabbit and trailblazed through the long grass. She'll be tired tonight.
