Terned out

We drove to Beadnell this morning and walked along the beach to the nature reserve where there are thousands of terns.  Little terns, Arctic terns and a solitary black tern, which shouldn’t be here.  I’ll add a few extras including the distant black tern.

It was a beautiful day and after tern spotting we sat on the beach near Low Newton and ate our lunch in the warm sunshine.  There were several little birds scurrying along the shoreline and an arctic turn dropped in to sit on a post close by.

We then headed back to Bamburgh for afternoon tea and a walk up to the castle and back in nothing short of a gale.  I found it difficult staying upright.

Tonight we’ve been out to dinner with our friends and have to pack up to be off early in the morning.
