Long-jawed Orb Weaver Spider

My first proper macro session at Trentham Gardens since I got my camera repaired. Armed with my macro lens I was fired up to go.....

But it was super windy! Not exactly the right conditions  to take images of flighty insects. The damselflies will have to wait for another day.

But these beasties were perfect as long as I could time it right with a slight break in the breeze. They lie in wait for the damselflies as their webs are constructed in amongst the reeds the damselflies frequent.

I wouldn't like to try and say their name after a couple of glasses of wine either!

Go large to see the raindrops in sharp detail.
