Wave clouds

Just back from an evening walk up the road after a meal in our local pub. The sight of these
lenticular wave clouds bring back many happy memories of the days when we were both members of the SGU (Scottish gliding club at Portmoak).

These clouds coming off the mountains are what glider pilots dream of enabling great heights and distances to be reached.  And Scotland is famous for the atmospheric conditions that produce these rising walls of air, which you ride like a surf-boader.

M once reached 19,000ft but I never got beyond 8,000ft.

Meanwhile the  UK record is 38, 6000ft. held by a pilot flying from the Deeside Gliding club.

Today our feet are firmly on the ground. Literally. Gardening.
