Walking with Flowers

Boddam

This bay on the South Mainland of Shetland may not look like much but it is teeming with bird life. Today we saw: whimbrel, oystercatchers, teal, redshank, mallard, shelduck, turnstone and a big flock of starlings. There is something about watching birds that cleans out the synapses - it must use a different part of the brain than I use for my usual work activities. When water is added in it is magic. I'm here for a well-needed fortnight's rest and this was an excellent start.
