Brown iris

We used to have a holiday home in Italy, where the garden hazards are different from Oxfordshire. We had a beautiful bed of brown iris, but one morning we woke up to find that the porcupines had scratched up and eaten all the rhizomes except one scrap. We brought that scrap back to England and have been nurturing it ever since. This year it is a strong plant with these beautiful soft warm brown and yellow flowers. I have got in so close with my macro lens that it reminds me of the Rolling Stones' Hot Lips logo :-)
