Quod oculus meus videt

Scabious in the Park

Spent time in the garden this morning, planting some new bedding and watering in the newer plants that haven't seen much rain.

After lunch I took a walk around the park, passed the wildflower areas which were planted last year.  It is interesting to see how the plants and flowers develop in the second year.  They were planted out as turves which had been pre-seeded so things are likely to be a little different in the coming years as the annual seeds compete with more established perennials.  It still looks colourful and the sun helped isolate this scabious flower against a background in deep shadow.

I also walked passed the fun fair which was busy with people 'enjoying' the rides.  Not my cup of tea, particularly one that spun you around before elevating you to 90 degrees and then flipped you upside down.  Plenty of screaming suggested varying reactions to the thrill.

I also spent a few minutes watching the cricket at the adjacent ground.  Some good hitting was interspersed with wickets falling and the visiting side failed to register three figures in their innings.
