Letting the Fairies Out

First morning at our temporary (holiday) home near Ballycurrin Lighthouse on the eastern shores of beautiful Lough Corrib. Two weeks now of just chilling with family and friends - with some Irish lough-style fly fishing thrown in for good measure.

Breakfast soda bread already made this morning and now waiting on Mrs B waking up. Forgot to pack my sour dough starter but hey, this seems the only right and proper bread to bake here.

There is even a Society For the Preservation of Irish Soda Bread and quite right if so. I read that the traditional cross on the top is to ward off evil and ‘let the fairies out’ - But if thats not true, well it ought to be!

This is a bit of a cheat packet mix, so had better pull my baking socks up - so to speak.
