Roman Bridge Remnant in Rieti

Departing Rieti, we cycled across a bridge over the Velino River. Right next to this modern commuter friendly bridge is the original bridge from Roman Empire days. Chariots and centurions once crossed this ancient stone ‘ponte’, now it is a hangout for the local waterfowl. The extra shot shows more of the bridge that is below the surface of the water.
