Flowers, friends and a fox

Started the day with an outdoor swim and tested my new polarised goggles. The visibility underwater is crystal clear and no glare above water so goodbye squinting.

The pool was cordoned off at the deep end for the diving boards so I decided on a continuous swim of the perimeter instead. Swam the equivalent of 40 lengths in 28 mins. I enjoyed watching the divers from underwater plunging into the deep end. Had fun dodging the kids in donut rings.

After swimming met up with my bae for brunch and a browse around the Faversham Market. Bought some peonies for H (fellow blipper LaLa) and some spring flowers for home as well as nice meats, Kent strawberries and asparagus.

Took a drive to the coast this afternoon to drop off a parcel for H and B. H banged on the window as we put the parcel by the front door “Don’t you dare!” she shouted and frightened the life out of me. I’d read on blip family were visiting so we didn’t want to disturb and were trying to do an elusive ‘drop off’.

Turns out family had already been and gone so we popped in for a cuppa, tour of the garden and had a good ol’ chinwag…four castle pals back together. It was so nice to see them both. B was cracking jokes and telling stories, putting on a brave face and sticking two fingers up to the big C.

Frankness and a sense of humour is a common theme among several of my close friends facing health battles at the moment, Brian, Polly, Claire P and Colin thinking of you and your ability to smile through it all. I think you are all bloomin’ marvellous.

After our visit to see H and B we drove along the coast to the Dungeness Estate. Down by the old lighthouse we spotted a fox foraging in a bag of rubbish. Unusual to see a fox on the coast, especially so close to people. He trotted off down the middle of the road like he owned the place!

Popped into The Pilot pub for a beer and some whitebait before heading home with happy bellies and sea salt in our hair.
