A Walk on the Wildside

This morning I went somewhere that I haven't been before. Wildside gardens occupies a 3 acre site just outside Buckland Monachorum, near Plymouth. Its an extraordinary place where a maze of narrow paths wind their way through a morass of flowers, shrubs and shallow ponds creating a wall of colour. The gardens were started on a green field site in 2004 by Ros and Keith Wiley. Sadly, Ros Wiley died in 2019. She was a talented artist and her prolific work can be seen on display in a gallery here. She painted the swathes of colour in the garden, sometimes blending in to the fields, trees and hills beyond. None of the works in the gallery are for sale and the display includes some unfinished works that she left when she tragically died. We are fortunate to own one of here paintings which we bought several years ago in memory of my mother.
