Signs of Spring (back blip for Sun)

Among the first Londonners to greet the arrival of spring are the pigeons. The males puff themselves full of air and strut around making a low trilling cooing noise. The females wander around aloof and nonchalant, trying not to trip over the males who place themselves in the females' paths at every opportunity. Eventually, the male's persistence pays off, and he mounts one or more of the females in the first step towards making more pigeons.

This pair comprised a charcoal-grey male and a female closer to the colouring of the cliff-dwelling Rock Dove, ancestor of the Town Pigeon.
