Leaderfoot Viaduct

Trip to Melrose today - some wonderful scenery en route.

On the way we stopped off at Leaderfoot Viaduct. Opened in 1865, it carried the Newton St Boswells-Reston line of the (former) North British Railway over the River Tweed a short distance above its junction with the Leader Water. This section of line closed to regular passenger traffic after it was severed by floods in August 1948.

Another day of avoiding the accounts, which are closing in like a Dementor. Better do them before they take my mind...
