Forest clearing

No, not the peaceful idyll suggested by the phrase; "clearing" is a transitive verb here and that's what has been going on in this picture. Suddenly the dense forest across the River Massan from the back of Benmore Gardens has vanished, and in its place we have this devastation, with the huge piles of logs visible in the middle distance. It's not that I love commercial forestry plantations, but all the time I've known this road this stretch has been dark and mysterious and now it feels very different and looks raw. It'd be lovely if the Forestry Commission could clear away the debris after the operations are finished, but I fear that would be too much to ask ...
