Fly

This little fellow was sitting on a stinging nettle leaf. as it was quite he was fairly inactive allowing me to get close enough to photograph. no idea what species it is. Spent some time looking in the books, but didn't help  much. If anybody knows please tell me. i don't like not being able to identify what I see or photograph.
