Which one is Real?

The paella was masterfully cooked last night by John on the barbecue with assistance from Harold and Jim...why is barbecuing a guy thing? We women sat inside while I sliced and diced the ingredients and made a salad. I put a picture of the finished product in extras.

We said good-bye to Anne and Harold this morning as they continued their journey to Southern California for their granddaughter's high school graduation. There is one slight glitch in the plans as their son-in-law was exposed to somebody who tested positive after a poker game on Saturday night. If Jeff tests positive he certainly won't be going to the graduation and it remains to be seen if anybody, including the graduate will be able to go. They'll stay with their son who lives in the area and await developments....

We've had a very quiet Memorial Day. It is intended as a day to remember veterans who died in foreign wars, but the more immediate deaths of those who are dying today in Ukraine,  those lost to Covid in the last two years and senseless gun violence have occupied my mind today. There are no words to express my feelings of depression/rage and sadness over our inability to control gun ownership, and the massacre fatigue that seems to have taken over this country. Who could have predicted the things we seem to be willing to tolerate in this nation?The whole place seems to be frozen in a cultural, political and social impasse...

If our elected officials can't find a way out of it, what can we do as individuals?  That's what I'm think about today although my brain feels 
like a hamster running on a wheel....
