Cruising along

A full on day. Two new admissions, Others in the ICU needing an assessment. Then two long assessments about compulsory status extension in the afternoon. With the rain clouds gathering and dark approaching I decided to stop off at Western Springs on the way home rather than head out after getting home.

I had spent some time at this point on the bank and seen few birds on the water. On the way back I visited the spot again and was rewarded by a pair of weweia (dabchicks) almost gliding along on the surface of the lake, when not diving for food.

The extra is a royal spoonbill getting set for the night. It was one of about a dozen in a tree which being on a promontory with no human access is a secure place for the birds. This is the first decent view of spoonbills I've had so far this year.
