Harris’s Hawk

Two grandsons are here so some entertainment was scheduled.
One of our local large country houses has open gardens with woodland walks and a maze.
In addition to the tea room one of the attractions of the afternoon was a display of Falconry.
The fact that we were watching from under large umbrellas in the pouring rain did not dampen our interest. We were introduced to a Barn Owl and a Falcon but the star was this Harris’s Hawk. This one was from South America.
Of course there may be people who do not like to see them trained and kept in this way. But it was interesting to learn that they live from 10 to 12 years in the wild and from 20 to 25 years in captivity.
