Common Milkwort

The last few days our garden has been filled with a tumbling, squawking mass of baby Starlings and their harrassed parents feasting on the fat balls we provide - at times we estimate there were over sixty individuals present. This morning I photographed a small mob of them have a brief rest before continuing to squabble and bicker over food.

This afternoon I headed to Collyweston Quarries NR to undertake a preliminary walk over survey. Although it's not far away, It's been many years since I visited and I was taken aback by just how rich the sward was with carpets of Dyer's Greenweed, and many other species of unimproved grassland including Meadow Saxifrage and some intensely blue Common Milkwort.
