Fast-flowing

This is Secondborn's first time in Scotland and she wanted to see proper mountains. I'd researched the train route, timetable and possible stopping/rejoining stations from Edinburgh to Inverness but when we got here it dawned on me that a bus tour would be much more flexible.

It is complete madness to zoom past the Kelpies on the motorway, have a brief view of Stirling castle through bus windows, stop in Glen Coe for fifteen cold blustery minutes, gaze at the cloud just above the snow patches on the top of Ben Nevis, wander round Fort Augustus for an hour while the rest of the coach passengers go on a boat trip round one end of Loch Ness looking for monsters, spend 20 minutes in Pitlochry and finally cross the middle bridge over the Firth of Forth then turn left back into Edinburgh. But somehow we had the seats at the front of the coach despite not being first in the queue to get on, our driver gave us an excellent commentary on the history of Scotland and the stories of the places we were going though, and it was a much more varied and less tiring day than the train trip would have been. And we got bluebells, heiland coos and lots of torrents (my personal passion).

A thoroughly good day out.
