Endangered

A Pied Oystercatcher forages for food on the sandbanks of North Creek in Ballina. In NSW they are listed as endangered, though their conservation status is more secure elsewhere in Australia. One writer says there are less than 200 pairs on the entire 2,000 km of the NSW coastline. This one has been banded - it's nice to know that someone is keeping an eye on them.
