Argumentative

The best laid plans.... Up at 6am, down to Miavaig Pier for 7.15am and.... No-one there. Now one benefit of this holiday is the peace that comes with a lack of mobile reception. Not so great is missing messages that suddenly appear when you reach some reception, left the day before, telling you that the trip has been postponed due to the weather - but may take place on Thursday instead.

However the early morning wasn't wasted and instead we headed round to Callanish in the dawn light, then up to the top of the island for a coastal loop wander around the Butt of Lewis (taking in the arguing Fulmars, windswept sheep, inquisitive seals, and skateboarding Buzzards).

So not exactly a lost day (though being up at 6 meant by three in the afternoon we were both shattered, so it was back to the cottage to relax, i.e. Mel had a snooze, and I had a wee soak in the bath and a read before staking out the bay for otters), but glad that we wandered into one of those little patches of reception on the way back to the cottage and had a message waiting that the trip will be going ahead tomorrow.
