In My Life

By George!

Manchester proudly recognises England's patron saint by holding a 'St George's Day Festival' across the city centre. This annual weekend-long celebration includes a parade that passes through the streets. Outside the Town Hall in Albert Square, a vintage funfair and sound-stage have been assembled. Here, a couple relax and take in the scene before the crowds of the day arrive. Despite much campaigning to make St George's day a national holiday, celebrations on the day itself - Tuesday 23rd, will have to fit in with a normal working day.

"There is a forgotten, nay almost forbidden word, which means more to me than any other. That word is England."
Sir Winston Churchill
