Let the Honeymoon be-gin!

What a long ass day!!

We were up at 4.45am and at the airport by 6.15am. The queues for check in didn’t look too bad, but before we could join them, we were told by an airport official that our 9.55am flight had been delayed until 4pm!!

We duly went off for a coffee before returning to check in (as instructed) at 8am.
It was no worse than we’ve experienced before and clearing security was ok; we did manage a sneaky jib through a barrier that hadn’t been closed off. It was swiftly closed after that!

There wasn’t much chance of relaxing, in spite of the time to kill as we were just worrying that our flight could get cancelled at any point. The news reports said everyone whose flights had been cancelled had been told the night before, but two more flights were cancelled while we were waiting.

There were a few people moaning about the delay, but I said I’d take a delay over a cancellation!

We did get £40 in vouchers to spend on food and drink and later found out that due to the length of our delay, we can claim compensation, which we will look into for sure.

Finally we got a call for boarding just after 5pm and were airborne just after 6pm.

By the time we got to our hotel room, it was 6.38am (uk time) and we were absolutely exhausted.
But we were here :-)
