Serious topiary

I decided to have a wander around the gardens at Middleton Hall - and still be home in time to watch Rafa.

It wasn’t crowded. I saw three butterflies and an amazingly huge dragonfly but they weren’t keen on posing.

No herons but a very loud cuckoo which also didn’t  want to pose.

On my way out I noticed this amazing corner of the  walled garden. I remember trying to trim a hedge in the shape of a mastiff. It’s unbelievably hard. This topiary artist is some craftsman !
