Light on the Green Isles

The Green Isles are situated in the Sound of Mull and quite often are strongly lit when all around the mainland and the island are in shadow. This was taken during a quick trip to Salen to pick up some logs before spending the rest of the day on the lifeboat at a harbour open day. I nearly used a photo from the afternoon as my 100th blip as a few of us involved in a shout at the end of January had to have a crew photo taken for a fundraising leaflet which the RNLI will be publishing in the summer. Our brief was to look 'serious' which sounds straightforward but with most of the crew lapsing into fits of laughter, it took several takes before we looked suitably serious. I was sorely tempted to use one of the photos where half of the crew are looking serious and the other half are scarcely stifling giggles. Why did I reject it as a blip? Well, although I'd worked out the 'shoot' and my 5D was used for the photos, there were actually taken by another crew members. You'll just have to look out for that fundraising leaflet in the summer to see a brief outbreak of seriousness in the crew.
