Lancaster Overhead

We returned home today after our week in Lincolnshire.  After a couple of hours travelling we saw a sign off the A1 for Woolacombe Manor. On the spur of the moment we turned off our route to have a change of scene.
As we parked and were heading for the Manor, we heard the distinctive drone of an old aeroplane and what should come into view but the old Lancaster bomber we had seen only a few days ago in the RAF Battle of Britain museum. It is one of only two Lancasters still flying and yesterday was part of the Jublilee fly-past over London! The plane then proceeded to circle round at a very low height appearing to almost skim the treetops. It was all very exciting and I had to speedily adjust camera settings to catch it.

We are home now and unpacked. We hope the Lancaster made it safely back to Coningsby.

Woolacombe Manor, birthplace of Isaac Newton  was really interesting and well worth the visit.
