Unexpected Beauty

Just as everything dries up, and the grass gets crunchy, and you think all the flowers have gone, these gorgeous blue beauties (Cichorium intybus) pop up everywhere. And then, walking down to the Lake, saw several clumps of bright pink centaury (Centaurium erythraea) on the ground (extra). Just amazing. How do they come up? What moisture are they accessing?

A day for both of us mostly indoors, paperwork for Mike, and me phoning and texting all sorts of folk, checking up, sorting problems, organising...

But we got in a good walk, followed by another long conversation with family in Texas.
