Chillerton’s Take on the Jubilee

Chillerton is a small village (pop 422 in the 2011 census) near to Carisbrooke Castle and Newport.
I found out that until 2009 when the Southern Water authority stepped in , properties built before 1907 had free water and newer properties received a reduced rate!
For the past few years the village has had a scarecrow competition which draws many car drivers into this quiet village and means people amble in the road peering into gardens. It is great entertainment. There is a competition for the winning scarecrow. Obviously there were many nods towards the Jubilee but I liked this Goth couple the best.
