Eaglesham Fair

Scotland has been enjoying a fantastic few days of weather, today the high was 19C, which is pretty high for us.

We spent the afternoon at the Eaglesham Fair.  Sometimes at the fair of bygone days the rain and wind has been horizontal, but not today.  The village was packed to bursting, but we were very fortunate as we arrived to be able to park right at the Orry, as a car pulled away just in front of us.

There was so much to do, and so much of it was geared for the children, which was so nice.  They had a funfair, and a stage with singers and enertainers, a scarecrow competition, artwork competitions, baking competitions, lots of stalls selling crafts and speciality foods, and of course lots of takeaway food stalls.  There was also an old car exhibition, and a special run, up the hill and back again, not a mean feat as Eaglesham is a very hilly place.

We met quite a few friends just wandering like ourselves.  We had a break at the Eglinton Arms outdoor space, which was lovely.  One of the people we met was our 93 year old friend of walking days, Joan, was had been brought over by her son for a few hours, and looked amazingly well.

It had to be a collage today, and I chose one of the scarecrows.  The royal theme was to the fore as you can see.  Scotland is not really into street parties, perhaps our (more usual) weather is to blame for this, or perhaps our psyche, but we nonetheless are enjoying the Platinum Jubilee weekend in honour of our Queen.

I have uploaded an extra too for anyone who is interested.

And we are looking forward to the Jubilee Concert tonight, along with millions of others.  Just about to prepare some drinks and nibbles, G&T for me, and a soft drink for the HG who has far too sweet a tooth to drink alcohol.

If you are like us watching the show, I do hope you enjoy it.
