A Right Royal Party In The Park

Way back in 1977, The Welcome Home Field in Mistley played host to the Silver Jubilee Party, following the carnival procession through the local parishes. My sister and I were young then (!) and Dad decided that as the exact day was our joint birthdays, the news should be shared with the gathered crowds via the tannoy on stage.

Fast-forward 45 years (I know, I shudder at the thought as I write) and the Party returns for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. It was a great success, judged not only by us twins, but if the local Facebook pages are anything to go by, many local residents too. The usual ingredients of good food, live music, drinks and lots of people made for a worthy celebration. As a special bonus, the usually banned dogs were allowed on the field for one day only! As Miss Fluffy, queen of the bounce was with us, we departed ahead of the finale fireworks and watched them from the safe distance of a mile away.
