Look East

What a difference a day makes! Today cold (again), windy (again) and damp (again).
Good old British weather.
This is Crow Hill, Sowerby (above Halifax, West Yorkshire). If you follow this footpath to the top of Crow Hill, you will be 1,256 ft (383 m) above sea level.
If you then look due east (and have exceptional eyesight), the next piece of land higher than where you are standing is approx 2,500 miles away. The Ural Mountains to be exact!!
Sounds incredible? I believe it to be true. Check it out!
Due east goes across the flat eastern side of England, Northern Germany, Northern Poland, Southern Belarus and South Russia. All pretty flat terrain.

PS
If anyone was following my Puppy Blip from Friday - Puppy has been re-united with her owner. Collected Saturday. Happy ending :-)

PPS
If anyone was following yesterday's blip Two Ladies in a Bentley you will be pleased to know they came 2nd out of 106 entries. You saw them first on Blipfoto :-)
