D - Day

Today is the 78th Anniversary of the Allied Powers in 1944 invading Normandy to begin the process of liberating Europe from the Nazi’s grip and bringing WW2 in Europe to an end.

One of the architects of this plan was Sir Winston Churchill. Our current PM likes to think he is a latter day Churchill! He is definitely not and today he faces a D Day of his own making as he faces a vote of no confidence.

My day began with public facing volunteering role at Cheltenham Spa railway station. It ended on the north Cornish coast here in Bude.

In a previous life we came here every June as part of our work. Today is our first visit since 2008. Our first impression is that Bude continues to flourish and seems to have survived the lockdowns surprisingly well. We’ll find out more tomorrow!
