Cat's Paw

The figure of Professor Dame Sarah Gilbert stands decisively beside the road through our neighbouring village of Isfield - one of many depictions currently on show in the village of significant figures (not necessarily British) from the 70-year reign of our Queen. (Some of the others can be seen as today's 'Extras').

While taking today's photos I met a villager who explained the appearance of so many high-quality figures in Isfield by the involvement of 'semi-professional effigy builders' associated with the area's rich Bonfire tradition.

She reassured me that none of this year's Jubilee figures were destined to be burnt on a bonfire! However there had been a competition: and that the winner was - The Beatles' Yellow Submarine!
