To bee or not to bee

A bee orchid Ophrys apifera enjoying the sunshine. Apparently bee orchids do not just mimc the looks of a female bee to encourage male bees but also emit the scent of female bees. I did sniff it but as I wasn't prepared to find a female bee to sniff for a comparison I will just have to take the word of those who know. One for Wildflower Week. Thank you for hosting Miranda.
