Kirriemuir Hill

There is camera obscura on Kirriemuir Hill. Unfortunately it wasn't open today when we visited. J. M. Barrie, author of Peter Pan is Kirriemuir's most famous son. He gifted the Barrie Pavilion where the camera obscura is housed to the town in the 1920's. He is buried in the cemetery nearby, as are some of my Lindsay ancestors. The information board made interesting and entertaining reading. I remember visiting the camera obscura when I lived in the area as a child.I probably wasn't as impressed as I should have been. Kirriemuir is known as The Wee Red Toon for good reason as the older houses are all built of the local bedrock which is Devonian Old Red Sandstone.
