Home!

After a leisurely breakfast in our hotel we started the drive home. It was lovely driving the new car. The quiet motor, advanced cruise control, and almost self-steering along the motorway make driving a more relaxing experience than it used to be. The traffic situation here in Sweden also makes driving more relaxing, after the busyness of the UK roads. We look ahead along a kilometre of road and see maybe a half-dozen cars and trucks ahead - this is how driving should be!
Once home we checked out the garden. In the three weeks we had been away summer had definitely arrived. There had been so much growth in that short time. Fortunately our visitors had cut the big lawn, otherwise we may have been forced to call in some sheep!
This little corner of the garden, sorted out last spring and summer had so many plants crammed into a small space.  As well as assorted unidentified weeds I can see all these plants somewhere in the picture...
Forget-me-nots, nettles, daffodils, raspberry canes, a plant with large bronze leaves, rhubarb, an emperor lily (?), dandelions, wild pansies, and a blackcurrant bush up in the top left corner.
On a less positive note the bathroom in The Red House had suffered something of a catastrophe while we were away. The immersion heater had heated itself up and boiled, filling the bathroom with steam and pouring rusty water all over the floor.  It may have continued for several days as the house was empty during the week.  Fortunately Lasse and Annika came along on Saturday for a quite country weekend away from the city and were met with this mini inferno to deal with. Poor people, but lucky for us!  They dealt with it admirably and let us know, so we were prepared when we got home.
I find it hard to blip when travelling so this is the middle blip of three, all posted today.
